A publishing and media company dedicated to getting humanity off Earth before the climate, energy and resource window closes
It’s been over 50 years since a human last walked on the moon. Fifty years of waiting for humanity to take another step toward the stars. The original space pioneers — regardless of nationality — held a fervent dream that humanity would follow after them.
It didn’t happen.
There was always something better to do with government money. Feed and house the homeless. Universal healthcare. Income equality. Establish world peace.
That didn’t happen either.
Because the political and government focus was on projects — not people — we’ve lost half a century ignoring an enterprise that could’ve completed those projects.
Space.
We at Stellar Nursery Media believe strongly in space. It is our goal to raise awareness on the economic, social, scientific and political benefits of stepping off our home world and into space.
Because if we don’t, the problems facing us here cannot be solved. Critical resources needed to fix our energy problem — whether it’s wind or solar — require rare earth minerals. There’s a reason they’re called “rare”. Hard to find, limited in quantity, and critical to building those solar panels and windmills. What most don’t know is we’re already running out of those rare resources… or that they aren’t recyclable. Most are also unaware that we’re projected to run out of petroleum in the next 50 years. Say goodbye to all those plastics we’re throwing into the ocean… or that bottle of water chilling in the fridge. Petroleum isn’t just for gasoline.
Where can humanity find more of those rare elements? Space. Solve our energy problem with clean energy? Space. Solve the world’s food, population, economic, and social problems? Space. Solve climate change by moving industry somewhere else? You guessed it. Space.
Inspiring the people who dream of space by showing it's possible
We have a hypothesis. While science fiction has kept the dream of space alive, it hasn’t moved humanity forward enough to reach the stars. If a publishing and media company were to integrate books, merchandise, a series, and podcasts with guests from the space industry… we could.
We are going to prove it.
Starting with the first book in the Marauding Stars eight-book series. Using that as an initial discussion topic, we are inviting the leaders of the space industry onto our podcast, Have Spacesuit — Can’t Travel. We’re using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine to create a video series from the books which we’ll initially put up on YouTube (with dreams Netflix will pick it up). And of course, we’re creating an entire line of space-dreaming merchandise.
It’s an ambitious project. But then again… so is space.
